What is file management?

When you create documents, paper or digital, you must organize them so you can: 1) know what is in a given document, 2) find documents when you need them, and 3) regularly clean up unneeded documents.

Vocaulary Instructions

  1. Begin by opening a new WORD document and creating a centered heading titled "File Management Vocabulary".
  2. The next step is to define and/or explain 'how to' for each vocabulary item. You may use your own current knowledge...if you are confident! If you are not 100% sure of the meaning or how to do something...open a browser (Chrome or Firefox) and use your favorite search engine (google, yahoo, bing, etc.) to look up definitions/descriptions for the vocabulary words.
  3. Follow along with the teacher demonstration of each file management tool. Practice to make sure you know how to properly manage files and folders.
  4. You may work on this activity at home if you wish, but you will have time in class.
  5. Be prepared for the File Management Quiz....so you can show how well you have mastered file management!
