What is Javascript?

The dictionary defines it as: Ja·va·Script -NOUN - an object-oriented computer programming language commonly used to create interactive effects within web browsers.

This definition is perfect, for Javascript allows you to make webpages interact with users and with the server. It uses tools built into virtually all browsers, so you don't have to upload to a server in order to test your work - like we did with php.Our exploration of JavaScript will cover some basics and connect you with a host of resources so you can develop your skills on your own. As with all web development...the more tools you have in your toolbox, the better able you are to tackle whatever comes your way.

We will work through a basic tutorial developed by W3Schools. This allows you to see the features and elements of JavaScript in a straitforward way, with build-in "try it yourself" opportunities to see how it works. It then allows you to 'play' with the script on your own to build familiarity and understanding.

The tutorial is available on the W3Schools Website.

Have some fun learning this powerful programming language that is now one of the building blocks of web development.?
